Juanita - Amputee

Juanita came to us as a 3 month old chick. Due to a hatch defect, one of her legs was on back to front!!

She wasn't able to get around and was beginning to get bullied by her flock, so she was surrendered to us.

We weighed up options but there was no way to repair her leg and her best chance at living a full-ish life was to have the leg removed.

Her leg was amputated and she lived inside whilst she recovered. She then moved outside to her own adjusted space (lots of padding!) and slowly, she gained confidence on her leg and became an almost normal chicken! She was integrated with gentle flock mate Harper and about 3 months later was able to be rehomed with her!
