Magic Mumma

Magic and her 7 chicks came to us after they were accidently hatched into a flock where they were unsafe and getting attacked.

Here, Magic was able to raise her babies in safety. She was treated for leg mites and lice and she and her chicks were regularly health checked and monitored. She was an incredible mum and her chicks slept under her for almost 3 months... no idea how they all fit!!

Magic seemed to thrive off being a mumma and looked out for them, putting their needs first for almost 3 months. When she started to distance herself from them, we were able to intervene.

4 healthy female chicks were rehomed. 2 female chicks had some feet deformities (potentially from their parents being related), one of those stayed here and the other was later able to be rehomed with a different rescue hen who she had bonded with. We still have one boy, Harry, who has showed us just how hard it is to rehome cockerels!!
