Sammy the lamb came to us as a foster at only one day old. He'd been given colostrum but we don't know how long he'd been alone that day. His mother had bled out during the birthing process and the farmer was too busy to intervene.
He was very weak and despite round the clock care, he died in Henry's arms a just 5 days old, whilst the vets were on their way for a second time.
We did everything we could to save him, and losing him felt like a failure. I felt broken, for him not getting a happy life and for the billions of babies just like him born into the food system.
Whilst this doesn't feel like a rescue story, Sammy at least died knowing love and warmth, instead of in the field, cold, alone and still attached to his dead mother.
His story is so important. He was just a baby. An innocent baby who was brought into this world by the selfishness of humans. Animals are living beings who do not deserve this. Don't support this - live vegan.
