Meet the family
Each of the animals who live at the microsanctuary have been saved from slaughter, rescued from a bad situation or were unwanted pets. Their care is not funded by public donations.

Head of Escaping
Rae was saved from a petting zoo. The litter size was "too big" so they were due to be killed. Instead she's here with us causing all kinds of trouble.

Flight Leader
Daff came from a commercial barn. She flies up pretty high and can always be found wandering off and exploring every nook and cranny of the garden.

Longevity Lead
Ida was being used by a farmer as bait to trap and kill foxes. When the farmer sold the land, the flock were due to be killed, but the new owner decided to keep them. When Ida got poorly, she came to live with us where she could more easily access treatment. She is thought to be over 10 years old!

Snack Specialist
Wednesday is from the same litter as Midnight and it is thought that she was the runt. The rescue have a hard time rehoming all black cats, especially feral ones.... but it turned out that Wednesday wasn't feral at all, especially if you come bearing snacks!

Bouncer
Keanu was an unwanted pet. He is our resident tough guy - 'nuff said.

Part-time Assistant
Frank was rescued with Midnight and Wednesday as a feral. He has decided that he prefers living next door with his best friend Thor who lives there. He sometimes comes home to visit but still strongly dislikes us humans!

The Big Boss
Kalli was an unwanted pet. She is brave and bossy and it didn't take her long at all to settle in with us and getting us tending to her every desire!

Head of Growth
Jasmine came to us from a "free-range" farm. She was terrified of humans but over time has learnt to trust us. She gets her title as Head of Growth from being a chubby lady.

Blueberry Tax Manager
Betty is a sweet and calm girl who was rescued with a badly broken jaw. Humans must pass her sniff test and earn her trust, but if they get it, she's super loving. She loves all fruit but anyone going to the fridge must pay the blueberry tax!

Sun Catcher
Freya was surrendered to us by a breeder as she wasn't in saleable condition. After veterinary intervention and months living in the house, she finally moved outside to live a full life with the flock, where she loves to sunbathe.

DE&I Champion
Midnight is from a litter of kittens born on the streets of London. She was brought into a rescue in a duffle bag, burdened with worms. Despite the rescue thinking she'd always be feral, she actually loves nothing more than a good stroke and a bit of attention!

Alumni
Bala and Bailey were orphaned lambs who we took in and bottle fed. They lived with us for just over a year, until they outgrew our space. They now live in a pet sheep flock with plenty of pasture and specialist sheep care. Even though they've flown the nest, we still go and visit them!

Greens Manager
Bobby came from a local animal sanctuary. He's not a huge fan of humans, but who can blame him. He has a huge appetite and loves coriander.

Lead Barker
Ruby was picked up from a roadside abroad, where she was being sold for meat.

She has learnt to trust us but is easily triggered and vocal when she isn't feeling safe! Underneath all her trauma, she really is the sweetest, loving girl who just loves to be loved!

Full time good girl
Luna was bred for "pizza, prosecco and piglet cuddling nights" at an animal park and discarded when no longer wanted. She loves to sit on command.

Head of Health & Wellbeing
Gracie was rescued with a suspected broken leg from being picked up by her legs on the farm she came from. She recovered so well and is the most confident, brave and inquisitive chicken we know!

Treasurer (Toy Safeguarding)
Bean was considered "defective" and unsaleable by his breeder. He is a just a pup and is full of beans!! He is always happy and friendly and totally breaks the chihuahua stereotype.

Dustpan & Brush Defence Director
Millie was rescued as an unwanted pet. She has a serious issue with the dustpan and brush and must attack it during every cleaning time.

Flock Manager
Dandi came from a commercial barn. She doesn't care much for the humans but as top hen, she does a great job of keeping the flock in order.

Commander in Chief
Olive was surrendered as a puppy as she had respiratory issues. She is healthy and happy now, causing all kinds of trouble. Even though she is the smallest in the pack, she is the loudest and boldest and is definitely the boss!

Chief Transformation Officer
Daisy came from a commercial barn and arrived with a completely bare and sore back from overcrowding feather pecking. She now has beautiful feathers and is a confident member of the flock.

Head of Corporate Development
Popcorn is the official mascot of The Vegan Food Group. She loves that vegan popcorn ch*cken exists as she doesn't want herself, or her kind to end up on humans' plates!!

Full Time Staff
As the humans behind the micro-sanctuary, we're the cleaners, fence repairers, feeders, nurses, carers, cuddlers and admin support! It's a full time job alongside our actual full time jobs but it brings us so much joy to rescue and nurture these special souls.

Angels
All the animals who are sadly no longer with us; Karen, Maggie, Teri, Violet, Bluebell, Ivy, Charlie, Benni, Ginger, Mishell, Dottie, Fleur, Finnik, Wavey, Priya, Dhalia and Linda.
